Power of Africa 2023 Conference

Hello Nigeria, Amb. Dr. Temitope Adeola Akinsemoyin will be representing Nigeria at the Power Of Africa Conference 2023 as a Panelist(Speaker) on the Politics and leadership session/panel.

Since the democratic expansion of the early 1990s, several countries adopted constitutions that enshrined a bill of rights which fairly domesticated international and regional treaties on civil and political rights. This new wave of constitutions incorporated democratic values such as the rule of law, political accountability, good governance, multiparty democracy and an end to political marginalization. This to a large extent promoted stability, legitimacy, accountability and acceptance in the African political sphere. Nevertheless, with this progress, a number
of countries, such as Nigeria,Botswana, Ethiopia, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, are still dominated by a single political party. However, even though single parties are still dominant, countries such as Botswana, Ethiopia, Namibia, Rwanda and Tanzania, have even become more liberal.
However, the influx of multiparty democracy on the continent has not been translated into a much- needed democratic dividend.

Joining me on the panel to address the topic “Enhancing Citizenship Participation in Government Leadership inAfrica: The Practical Approach” are seasoned technocrats and partisans from across Africa
Including Mwila Chriseddy Bwanga from Zambia and Manik Mitree from Liberia and Manji Wilson a governance expert and Regional Director West Africa, Lead Beyond.
